On January 30, 2024, a meeting was held between the director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Khayriddin Usmonzoda, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Tajikistan, mr. Ali Reza Haghighian.
First, the director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan congratulated the ambassador on his appointment to this very responsible diplomatic position and wished him success in further strengthening bilateral relations between Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Usmanzoda Khayriddin positively assessed the level of friendly relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran and emphasized that their further development meets the interests of both parties.
It was noted that the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, under the leadership of their wise leaders, have created the best example of mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas mutually beneficial for both countries.
As was said, the potential for developing cooperation between both countries is very great, but, unfortunately, it is not being fully used. The hope was expressed that in the future these opportunities will be used for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
Usmonzoda Khayriddin especially emphasized the importance of developing trade and economic relations, including the development of a green economy and the expansion of tourism.
Then Usmonzoda Khayriddin informed the ambassador about the main activities of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. He noted that promoting research ties with intellectual centers of other countries is one of the main priorities in the Center’s activities. It was noted that over the past three years, the Center for strategic research has signed a memorandum of cooperation with several analytical institutions in Iran, which undoubtedly indicates the expansion of scientific and analytical relations between both countries.
In turn, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Ali Reza Haghighian, expressed gratitude to the director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan for the warm welcome and sincere words about the friendship of the two countries and highly appreciated the development of partnerships between Tajikistan and Iran. He added that further strengthening cooperation between the two countries is the main goal of his diplomatic activities in the Republic of Tajikistan.
Mr. Ali Reza Haghighian noted the role of the linguistic, cultural and historical community of the Iranian-Tajik peoples in deepening relations between the two countries and, citing the statement of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, emphasized that “A prosperous and secure Tajikistan is the guarantor of a prosperous and stable Iran.”
During the meeting, both sides discussed in detail issues of regional security, the situation in Afghanistan and the Middle East, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
In conclusion, the director of the Center, Usmonzoda Khayridin, thanked the ambassador for visiting the Center and expressed hope that political, economic, sociocultural, scientific and analytical ties between the two countries will continue to develop and expand.
The meeting was held in a spirit of sincerity and mutual understanding.
